Announcing the Winners

For their beautiful photo contributions to this year's 2014 Taylorcraft Lover's Calendar, the following are the winners of a FREE calendar.  That is except for Jerry Borshard, who gets TWO free ones for having one of his wonderful shots selected as this year's COVER.

Just how nice are the calendar photos?  You'll have to purchase yours to see!  But to give you an idea, here are the ones that didn't make it.  These deserve recognition as honorable mention pictures that were not featured this year.  We so regret that we couldn't include all of these very nice shots.  So we decided to share them here and let you imagine for yourself how good the rest of the calendar shots must be.

Youth Project Taylorcraft Restoration - AAA of Colorado

Certified Aeronautical Products is proud to support the Antique Airplane Association of Colorado Taylorcraft Rebuild Youth Project.  The airplane is a BC12-D which will sport a Continental C85 upgrade purchased by the AAA of Colorado last year.  CAP has also donated approved paperwork for the airplane to be modified with Luscombe exhaust.  Headed up by long-time antique airplane restorer, Jack Greiner, the program has provided opportunities for young people to get involved in aviation.  Past restorations on which the team has participated include a 1931 Rose Parakeet, a Pietenpol Aircamper, and now a Taylorcraft.  Some of the kids have achieved in pilot training and have gone on to obtain a private pilot's certificate.  We applaud the work of the AAA of Colorado and Jack Greiner.

Taylorcraft Open Cowl Photos

Here's a little design assistance to restorers of Pre-war Taylorcraft BC-series airplanes who want to retain the "Open cowl" appearance.

The attached report contains detailed photographs of this installation.

Drawings Available for Taylorcraft BC Baffles

Certified Aeronautical Products announces the availability of FAA approved drawings for Taylorcraft BC-series Engine Baffles (enclosed cowl type). With parts currently not being supplied by the factory or by another entity like Wag Aero, or Univair, Taylorcraft restorers are being forced to deal with repairs and patchwork of their existing baffles. In some cases the baffles do not exist with some Taylorcraft project airplanes. C.A.P. in an effort to assist owners with this problem have developed a set of drawings that may be used to re-make or repair their engine baffles. We provide the 12-page drawing and FAA-DER approval for your airplane for $ 175.00.

I received your drawings and notes on January 15. I am pleased and believe they will work out well. For perspective, an IA friend of mine got some PMA'd baffles, from Univair I believe, for his Champ to complete a re-built engine installation. Then he spent a week modifying and installing them. I fully expect to do some tweaking but having a good starting point is important.

I would be happy to tell others about your work. Maybe a note on the Taylorcraft site would be appropriate if it's ok with you.
